Ayawaso East Assembly donates 400 sch bags to children

The Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly (AEMA) has donated 400 school bags to nursery school children of some selected schools within the municipality.

The schools include the Nima Cluster of Schools, Qubatul Hadra, and Tafsiliya Islamic Basic schools, Al-Waleed Comprehensive, Kanda AMA, Kanda Estate 1, and Institute of Islamic Studies Basic Schools.

Presenting the items the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hajia Salma Adams Kuta said the bags were to motivate the children to go to school every day.

In an earlier visitation to some schools in September last year, she said some of the children came to school without bags while others carried polythene bags, describing it as an eyesore.

She said the situation did not motivate the children to come to school regularly hence the loitering around of some children during instructional hours.

She said “I then made a personal decision to get some bags for the children which I am presenting to them today. “

According to Hajia Kuta early childhood education was important for the children because they would learn to interact with others and pick up language, literacy and numeracy skills, such as reading stories and counting objects.

She said since the coming of her administration, there had been a facelift in the educational sector stating that there had been an appreciable level of renovation of some school buildings in the municipality.

She encouraged the pupils to attend school regularly to enable them be at par with their peers in other municipalities.

The children who were overjoyed together with their teachers thanked the MCE for the gesture and promised to make good use of the bags.
