Ayawaso Central Assembly presents PPE to Mallam Atta Clinic

The Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly yesterday presented Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Mallam Atta Clinic in Accra.

The items received on behalf of the health facility by the Municipal Director of Health Services, Mariam Amponsah Achiano included, Veronica buckets, cartons of liquid soap, infrared thermometers, hand gloves, nose masks, paper tissues and hand sanitisers.

It was to help the clinic in the fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) following an appeal for more personal protective equipment by the Municipal Health Directorate for frontline staff of its facilities.

The Municipal Chief Executive Alhaji Mohammed Quaye presenting the items commended the staff of the clinic for the sacrifices made to increase public awareness on the dangers of the disease and promised to support the clinic achieve its goal of providing efficient and effective health care delivery.

“We are in critical times; it therefore behooves all stakeholders to effectively collaborate to complement government’s effort in tackling the pandemic that has created so much panic and fear in the world,” he added.

Alhaji Quaye expressed optimism that, the items would meet the immediate needs of the clinic for improved health delivery and assured of more support for the betterment of the clinic and appealed to the residents at the market to strictly adhere to the existing social distancing protocols to avoid contracting the disease.

Madam Achiano commended the assembly for promptly responding to their cry and urged spirited individuals and philanthropists to come to the aid of the clinic.

“The government and the assembly cannot do it alone, the current situation calls for all hands on deck to help salvage the situation.

According to her the disease is real and must not be taken for granted, because it does not discriminate between the rich and the poor, adding “that is why we must strictly adhere to all existing protocols to avoid contracting the disease.”
