Awukugua Peniel Pentecost Church best in preaching competition

Peniel Pentecost Church at Awukugua in the Okere District of the Eastern Region has been adjudged the best in a preaching competition held on August 27 in the area.

Wesley Methodist Church and Victory Presby Church were named second and third respectively.

The winning contestants were presented with various items including books, pens, pencils and other education materials.

The competition was aimed at bringing unity and friendship among the churches in the town.

The preaching competition among the local churches in Awukugua formed part of Wesley Methodist Society’s 140th Anniversary celebration which was climaxed on Saturday, August 27.

The event was attended by dignitaries including Nana AfuaOnyene, Akwamuhemaa of Awukugua, the Very Rev. George Darkoh-Ampam, the Superintendent Minister of Adukrom Circuit and OkyereAfari.

Rev. Dr. Enoch Tham-Agyekum, a lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Anthony Koranteng-AfriyieAkwafo and Rita Tagoe were the judges for the competition.

The Minister in charge of Wesley Methodist Society, Rev. Isaac Yao Boamah Jnr, commended Peniel Pentecost Church for their victory in the competition.

He advised the contestants to live their lives in happening with God’s principles and preach God’s word to all in the area.

He further encouraged them never to look back in their quest to educate themselves both secularly and spiritually, saying “education is very important to enable you all to live a meaningful life and impact others positively.”

RevBoamah said peace and unity were key attributes of Christians and urged the people of the area to pursue peace and unity with all to promote development.
