The Assin South District Assembly is making strides in infrastructural development in the area to improve the livelihoods of the people.
The basic physical and organisational structures has closed the infrastructural gap and opened up the area to facilitate trade, investments, agriculture and other supporting and assisting socioeconomic activities.
The projects include construction works on a three-unit classroom block with office, store and semi-detached teachers’ accommodation at Wankoso, Assin-Kasim, Assin-Beyeden and Assin Abaasi.
Highlighting some key infrastructural development that are transforming lives in the district since 2019, Felicia Ntrakwa Amissah, the District Chief Executive for Assin South, said the projects were being funded by the government, through loans, grants and from multi-pool donor agencies.
She explained that they were disability-friendly and strategically built at deprived schools to put an end to learning under sheds and dilapidated structures and disclosed that the Assembly had completed a Community-Based Health Planning Service compound at Assin-Edubiase, Assin-Sargentkrom and Assin-Nkubem.
“Each has a main clinic, two separate one-bedroom staff accommodation and an out-patient area to bring primary healthcare to the doorstep of the communities, improve health outcomes, and reduce maternal and neonatal mortalities.
“The completion of mechanised boreholes with stand pipes seeks to ensure universal access to safe and affordable drinking water by investing in adequate infrastructure, provide sanitation facilities and encourage hygiene at every level as stipulated in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
“The Assembly has reshaped many feeder roads to facilitate easy carting of farm produce to the market centres which includes the construction of12 kilometers district roads and a footbridge at AssinOdomase,” Madam Amissah stated. -GNA
