Ashaiman District Div. 3 League takes off today

The 2022/23 Ashaiman District Football Association (ASDA) Third Division League will kick off today with a total of 21 teams grouped into two zones of 10 in Zone 1 and 11 in Zone 2.

Climaxing the new season will be a middle-league play-off between the zonal winners to determine who snatches the ticket for promotion next season.

Speaking to the Times Sports, Chairman of the Ashaiman District FA, Mr Raphael Tommy, said the zonal league will last for four months after which awards would be announced for the best player, top scorer, best referee and best goalkeeper.

Mr Tommy said, the motive was to scout for young talents for the national teams, and also build a formidable district U-17 team ahead of the Regional Inter-Districts Competition later this year.

He said 18 colt clubs have confirmed their participation as the day’s event was scheduled for today at the Sakasaka and Roman Park with kick off time at 8am.

Mr Tommy urged clubs, management, playing body and fans to be calm and disciplined to ensure a successful campaign devoid of violence and hooliganism.

He appealed to organisations and individuals to construct pitches in the district to enhance the development of talents in Ashaiman, which lacks any of those facilities.
