Ex-Germany international Gerald Asamoah has been appointed the new manager for German Bundesliga side Schalke 04.

The Ghanaian was confirmed on Saturday after the club announced that Huub Stevens and Mike Büskens will be in charge for the rest of the season.

They were on the bench for Saturday’s home game against RB Leipzig which they lost 0-1 and supported by Matthias Kreutzer, a new team analyst and assistant coach, and Asamoah.

Asamoah played for the Royal Blues from 1999 to 2010.
