Armed Robbers strike at Walewale …kill man, bolt with money, valuables

One man was shot dead and several others robbed of their money and personal belongings by armed robbers, near Walewale on the Tamale Bolgatanga Highway in the Northern Region.

The robbery took place Sunday at about 6 pm when victims, traders, were said to be returning home.

An eyewitness, Jalilu Abukati, told the Ghanaian Times the robbery occurred close to Walewle Technical and Vocational Institute.

According to him, the robbers numbering at least three on a motorbike, opened  fire on the traders before making away with  money and other valuables.

Abukari indicated that the young man who suffered various injuries was rushed to Walewale Government Hospital for treatment.

 The Northern  Regional Police Commander Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kwadwo Antwi, confirmed the story, stated that surveillance have been mounted in the area to arrest  the robbers, adding that the police would do every thing possible to apprehend the armed robbers.
