Appiah: I believe in Gyan

James Kwesi Appiah, Head Coach of the senior national football team, the Black Stars, has affirmed his confidence in the former captain of the team, Asamoah Gyan.

Speaking at pre-match press conference on Monday, Coach Appiah said, he believes in the qualities of Gyan, adding that he was an experienced player with a lot to offer the team.

He said, Gyan was an integral part of his team and would call on him for his services at the right time.

“No one believes in Gyan more than myself. I know what he is capable of doing and would deploy him at the right time.”

According to Coach Appiah, he knows the qualities of Gyan and what he can do at any given time but selections were based on what tactics and formation he chooses to play in a game.

“I have so much belief in Asamoah Gyan and I can say that no one believes in him more than me, but the most important thing is that every coach assesses his team at training and determines which player would suit a formation to be played.”

Coach Appiah said “I don’t think there would be a lot of changes to my starting lineup, my selection would depend on how we want to play on a day,” he added. –GNA
