APC encourages citizenry to pay taxes for devt

The All People’s Congress (APC), has encouraged the citizenry to pay taxes for the rapid socioeconomic growth and development of the country.

It called on them not to shirk their responsibility by evading tax to stall progress, growth and development.

“Taxation is what is going to help us develop our country and not borrowing because no country has ever developed on borrowing, and I believe Ghanaians want to pay taxes, but they do not want to pay taxes that do not contribute to progress, growth and development,” the party observed.

Addressing a press conference in Accra on Monday, dubbed, ‘Post Budget Analysis’, Hassan Ayariga, the founder of APC and the 2020 Presidential Candidate for the party, applauded the government for suspending the collection of road and bridge tolls from next year as captured in the 2022 Budget Statement and Financial Policy.

He also commended the government for its YouStart Initiative, aimed at empowering young people to start, and grow small businesses, create one million jobs with a seed capital of GHC1billion beginning from March 2022 and suggested a policy to provide sustainable livelihood for street hawkers.

Mr Ayariga urged the government to inform the telecommunication companies on a one-way payment of the proposed 1.75 per cent E-levy which was announced by Ken Ofori-Atta, the Minister of Finance, for charges on all electronic transactions during the presentation of the 2022 Budget Statement and Financial Policy to Parliament.

“The suffering is killing too much, the hardships are beginning to have a toll on people, we should rise above pettiness and save the country from socioeconomic doldrums and as leaders of various political parties, we must work together, be steadfast, focus and stand firm against LGBTQI+ since the practice is demonic,” he pointed out. -GNA
