APC condemns blatant disregard for law, order

The ALL People’s Party (APC) has condemned the blatant disregard for law and order which is breeding indiscipline.

It lamented that the penchant for people including public officials to quickly announce their status in society when caught by law enforcement agencies breaching the law was unfortunate, worrying and disturbing.

“When people including public officials flout law and order and are arrested by the law enforcement agencies, they quickly and arrogantly announce their status to avoid arrest and engage in exchange of words with them which breeds indiscipline which must not be tolerated,” the party stated.

Hassan Ayariga, the Founder and leader of the APC, condemned the blatant disregard for law and order through the abuse of power and authority which had bred indiscipline because the penchant for persons including public figures to quickly announce their status when they were caught breaching law and order was untenable and must face the full rigors of the law.

“Often times, people including public officials are arrested for one offense or another only for a high ranking official to call for their immediate release and if we continue on this tangent, we will not be able to clamp down on indiscipline and the likelihood to create chaos in society,” he cautioned.

Contributing to the dialogue on the Appiatse explosion that occurred on January 20, 2022, Mr Ayariga decried that “when people including public officials are caught in various offences and they fume, do you know who I am, they must be asked if they know the law which must be applied firmly, fairly and equally to all manner of people irrespective of their status to avoid deaths caused by avoidable accidents”.

It will be recalled that Abdul Mumin Issah, the Metropolitan Chief Executive for Sekondi-Takoradi was captured on camera on February 2, 2022 threatening and verbally abusing a police officer who arrested him for dangerous driving and the following day was consequently suspended by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, pending an inquiry into the incident. –ghanaweb.com
