The Aowin Traditional Council in the Western North Region has held its first general meeting in three-and-a-half years, following the settlement of chieftaincy disputes in the area.
The Council has since December 2018, been unable to hold meetings as the law demands, after protracted chieftaincy disputes that led to the closure of its office at Enchi, in the Western North Region.
Confirming this to the Ghanaian Times in a telephone interview yesterday, spokesperson for the Council,Ketebu Kwame Nakansah II, mentioned that the historic meeting was held at EnchiKokwado.
He said: “We want to declare to the people of Aowin and beyond that the Aowin Traditional Council now is officially opened for business and we thank all persons, who played various roles in ensuring the success of this milestone.”
Ketebu Nkansahen treated government and institutions to deal directly with the traditional council in order not to fall victim to persons posing as representatives of the Council to dupe unsuspecting members of the public.
He assured that his outfit would continue to contribute its quota towards the promotion of peace, development and tranquility within its jurisdiction and beyond, adding that the feat attained had proven that indeed “patience makes way for good things to happen.”
Ketebu Kwakye Nkansah revealed that the Acting President of the Council is Nana Kojo Sikanta II.
The Aowin Traditional Council was established under the Chieftaincy Act 759 and an independent body mandated by law to oversee and administer issues relating to traditions and customs in the Aowin area, in the Western North Region.
