Anyaa Ablekuma Church of Pentecost Chieftaincy Ministry inaugurated

The Anyaa Ablekuma Area of the Church of Pentecost has inaugurated its Chieftaincy Ministry with a seven-member committee to facilitate its affairs.

The committee chaired by the Krontihene of Kwahu Jejeti, Nana Obeng Akrofi I, included Pastor Ayim Smart; Ablekuma District Pastor as Coordinator, Nana Appiah VI, Kyidomhene of Enyan Nkodwo and Nana Afia Bempomah II, Denkyira Abakomahemaa.

The rest are Nana Omari Sasu, Odikro of Akwasiso-Kwahu Osubeng; Opanyin James Nana Kwesi Essuman, Abusuapanyin of Asumakoma Kokokyire Awudua- Tarkwa; Elder Nicholas Foli-Mensah and Pastor Kweku Smart.

The Area Head of the Church, Apostle William Ohemeng Kwakye, addressing the gathering at Ablekuma Central auditorium in Accra said the inauguration of the Chieftaincy Ministry aimed to bridge the gap between traditional leaders and the church.

He said it also formed part of the vision 2023 of the church to provide chaplaincy services to chiefs, queens and royals in the country to possess nations in their spheres of life.

Apostle Kwakye commended the committee members for accepting the responsibility to champion the course of the gospel in the palaces in addition to their traditional duties, and expressed optimism that their work would help grow the Anyaa Ablekuma Area.

The National Coordinator for the Chieftaincy Ministry, Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh, inaugurating the committee said the Chieftaincy Ministry was launched last year with the aim of bringing the gospel to the royals to also possess the nations and transform societies.

He said in times past many Christians wrongly perceived the chieftaincy institution to be a symbol of idol worship and for that matter, chiefs and queenmothers did not merit the Kingdom of God, adding “this perception is no more because the church realised that our kings and queens also loved to worship God and so thought it wise to engage them to also possess the nations for Christ.”

Apostle Denteh prayed that through the ministry, all chiefs, queens and royals would come to realise the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In a short sermon on the theme “Equipping royals as gatekeepers to possess the nations”, Apostle Lt.Col. Benjamin Kumi-Woode said “Godly leadership brings liberty to the people.”

Referencing his message on Judges 5: 1-2, he said leadership was important in any endeavour, and especially in the work of God and God expected leaders among His people to actually lead by bringing the gospel to the people.

He admonished the chiefs to submit to the Lord just as the Israelites did, and hold fast to His Kingdom principles and He would elevate them in all their endeavours.

The chairman of the committee, Nana Akrofi I, on behalf of the members, thanked the church for recognising traditional leaders and their roles in the development of the church and the country at large.
