Ampem Darkoa, Prisons Ladies clash at Techiman

A tension-packed atmosphere is expected at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman today when Ampem Darkoa Ladies cross swords with Prisons Ladies in a Women’s Premier League week four clashes.

Tagged as the two-heavyweights in the sector, matches between them have been cagey although more often than not it goes in favour of the Techiman ladies.

The last time they met in the Normalisation Committee Women’s Special Competition the Techiman-based side progressed 5-1 on aggregate.

They will be counting on the league’s current goal queen, Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah to lead the assault on the Prison officers although the Sunyani based uniformed ladies have expressed confidence in turning the tables this time around away from home.

After suffering a shock 1-0 loss in the hands of Prisons Ladies last week, Pearl Pia Ladies will hope to return to winning ways when they take on Kumasi Sports Academy at the Utrecht Park in Tamale today.

Coach Mallam Baba Nuhu and his charges would work their socks off to make sure they pick all points at stake against the Academy side, who are one of the surprise packages this season.

Northern Ladies will trek to the WESCO Park in Kumasi to play as guest of Fabulous Ladies in the day’s other game while the Paa Joe Park in Kumasi will witness the clash between Ashtown Ladies and Supreme Ladies.

In the Southern sector matches today, Lady Strikers FC will look to put the 9-0 debacle behind when they welcome Elmina Sea Lions to the Cape Coast Robert Mensah Sports Stadium.

However, having picked two points in the league so far, the Lions have served notice of adding to the woes of the host who have been warned by their fans not to sacrifice the three points today.

Tomorrow at the Adu Yaw Assasan Park in Ajumakom Soccer Intellectuals will host Samaria Ladies while Immigrations Ladies will attempt to pick all three points when they come up against the merciless Sekondi Hasaacas Ladies at the McDan La Town Park.

Hasaacas Ladies last week whitewashed Lady Strikers 9-0 and looks poised to surprise the uniform ladies if they fail to glitter as they did in their game against Police Ladies last week which saw them pick their first point at home.
