Allotey rises in latest WBO ranking

Patrick Allotey, World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa junior middleweight champion has jumped to the top 10 ranking of the division by the WBO.

In the latest ranking released by the world sanctioning body, Allotey was ranked 10th in the latest WBO junior middleweight division after his latest victory on December 23 against Sheriff Kasongo.

It is a massive boost for the boxer as far as his championship aspirations are concerned.

Allotey’s Ghanaian compatriot, Michael Obodai Sai was also ranked 15th in the middleweight division.

Robert ‘Stopper’ Quaye, made an entry into the 13th position, in the light welterweight division, on the back of winning the WBO Africa title in December.

Former two time, International Boxing Federation (IBF)/International Boxing Organisation (IBO) world champion, Joseph ‘King Kong’ Agbeko, who currently holds the WBO Africa bantamweight title, is now number three in the world, with fellow Ghanaian, Duke Micah back at number two.

Former world champion, Isaac Dogboe is now placed at number six, in the super bantamweight division, after losing his number five spot, from last month to the man he defeated in Accra last year, Cesar Juarez.

Another Ghanaian, Wasiru ‘Gyata bi’ Mohammed, who holds the WBO Africa belt in the same division, remains at number 14, with Emmanuel Martey, the WBO Africa super middleweight champion maintaining his 10th spot in the world ratings, same as WBO Africa Heavyweight king, Richard Harrison Lartey, who is number 14.
