ALL is set for the maiden Northern Regional Marathon event to be taken place in Tamale.
Dubbed the Tamale Marathon, the event is being organised by the Total Marketing and Tours Limited and Partners, in collaboration with the Northern Regional Coordinating and the Western Region Coordinating Councils.
Chief Organiser of the Tamale Marathon, Mr. Charles Cobbina, in an interview with the Times Sports stated that the event was part of efforts to unearth sports talents in the area.
He explained that his outfit intended to make the marathon an annual activity.
Mr. Cobbina, popularly known as Kempes, added that the event would not only help discover talents, but also help to promote the athletes to get to the top of their careers.
He noted that the area abounded with sports talents which needed to be harnessed and promoted.
The Tamale Marathon chief emphasized the importance of the event, entreating corporate bodies, sporting and keep-fit clubs to come on board and support.
The Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shiabu was elated about the marathon in the region and commended the organiser, pledging to support it.
“I would personally offer the needed support to ensure the success of the marathon here,” he assured.
Ahaji Shiabu was very optimistic that the event would help boost the income of the businessmen and women in the area.
The minister, therefore, called on authorities of schools and other stakeholders to help make the Tamale Marathon a success.
Ghana Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will be the Guest of Honour at the event that roars off this Saturday, November 6.
