The All Nations University in Koforidua in the Eastern Region is set to introduce a new programme next academic year – Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Emergency Medicine Technology – president and founder of the university, Dr Samuel Donkor has revealed.

The new programme, he said, would train well qualified paramedics to support and augment the healthcare sector for quality health delivery in the country.

Dr Donkor made this known in his address during the launch of the All Nations University College 20th anniversary celebration.

It was on the theme; “Celebrating 20 years of quality and innovative higher education in Ghana.”

The university had set November 12 -20, 2022 to commemorate the milestone of achievements and after becoming a Chartered Institution with its programmes fully accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), including the Graduate School which awards Master’s degrees.

He indicated that the COVID-19 pandemic impact on the global economy has exposed the vulnerability of many sectors, while at the same time underscoring the importance of education as a more stable investment in human development.

Dr Donkor said that the All Nations University is currently leading a group of African countries, including Ivory Coast, Togo, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso and Senegal in the development of small satellites known as (GhanaSat-2) which would soon be launched into space – the first of its kind in Africa.

He added that the university continues to break barriers in the technological sector as it has set up the first Digitised Industrial and Virtual Reality Laboratory for use by senior high and basic school children.

The successful feat, he said was the first step towards the first ever National Centre for Digitised Industrial Tour and Virtual Reality Learning to be established on its School of Engineering campus in the region.

For his part, Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong commended leadership of the university for taking lead in the technological space by putting Ghana and the Eastern region on the world map through the launch of the GhanaSat-1 into space in 2017.

He said the region remain committed to provide the needed support to the university to enable it train more graduates in the field of engineering and technology.
