‘All depositors will be paid’

The Vice President, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, has assured that all depositors of collapsed DKM financial institution will be included in the payment process of depositors of all collapsed banking and financial institutions.

He said over one million depositors have been paid so far, and the government has already spent GH¢13 billion on the payment of depositors.

The Vice President was addressing the first ever Town Hall Meeting and Results Fair which offered the opportunity to index the achievements of the government. 

Dr Bawumia insisted that, the banking sector clean-up was done to protect the financial sector from a total collapse.

He said the clean-up has made the banking sector of the country more stronger and resilient which was good for the economy.

Dr Bawumia stated that, it took the government more courage to clean up the sector, something the previous government could not do in spite of knowing how bad the sector was.

The Town Hall Meeting and Results Fair which was a collaboration between the Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Monitoring and Evaluation allowed  the government to demonstrate the fulfilment of its 388 manifesto promises.

According to the Vice President, the New Patriotic Party has fulfilled 78 per cent of its manifesto promises which warranted another term of office for the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
