Agbeko to face Tanzanian challenger Kisarawe

Joseph ‘King Kong’ Agbeko, a former bantamweight world champion will face Tanzanian challenger Julias Kisarawe in a 10 round International contest on Sunday, October 5 at the A Plaza Hotel in Dzodze, Volta region of Ghana.

Agbeko, rated top contender by the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) in the bantamweight division, improved his winning record to 36 wins in April after defeating Hashimu Zuberu.

He is extremely confident about his chances and sees the fight as an opportunity to prepare himself for a potential world title bout before the end of the year.


“I want to get back into the championship ranks and so far I am on course. This bout will further prepare me for a mandatory contest.”


Agbeko told the Times Sports yesterday that “Fighting at Dzodze is something I relish though my recent bouts have all been in the Volta Region. Dzodze is a beautiful town and I can’t wait to entertain the fans there.”


A co-headline bout on the bill will be Dodzi Kemeh who is expected to mount the ring against Daniel Aduku for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) Africa super welterweight title.

 
Kemeh who has a fight record of 25 fights comprising of 21 knockouts and two defeats, is confident ahead of the fight.


“I have set my eyes on the IBF Africa title for a long time, Aduku can’t stand in my way. I will brush him aside, I know he is capable of causing an upset, and he is a strong boxer, but I will be ready for him and for the challenge he brings on”, he mentioned to this paper in an interview yesterday.


Promoter and president of Infinity Stars Promotions, John Kwakuvi says Kemeh is Ghana’s most promising boxers.


“Dodzi Kemeh is the future of the super welterweight division; this fight is another step towards a desired goal of becoming a world champion, he noted.”


Also on the packed night of boxing thrills will be hard-hitting Togolese fighter John Koudeha who will defend his International Boxing Federation (IBF) African title against Patrice Sou Toke from Burkina Faso.
Four more undercard fights will be staged on the undercards. They are a super welterweight clash involving Kofi Manu and a yet to be announced opponent and a super middleweight encounter between Michael Tagoe and a yet to be announced opponent.
Also on the bill will be Emmanuel Kwate Quartey alias Akufo Addo against a yet to be announced opponent and Solomon Martey fighting an opponent yet to be announced.
