Aduana Stars hope to stretch lead …as they face Oly today

A Highly-Motivated Accra Great Olympics side will attempt what connoisseurs deem impossible when they storm the Abramkesse Park today with an audacious target to snatch the maximum points against the league leaders, Aduana Stars in a match day 26 game of the betPawa Premier League.

After a string of poor results, the Wonder Club returned to winning ways on Sunday as a brace from Razak Yusif earned them a 2-1 victory over Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium.

That win gave the Olympics faithful a huge sigh of relief, having gone close to the relegation zone.

Perhaps, that winning appetizer, coupled with Aduana Stars’ ban from home which is expected to offer some air of neutrality, appears to have given the visitors hope of ‘hurting’ the Dormaa lads.

Aduana Stars have been in the headlines for the wrong reasons in the past few days after reports of their fans attack on Tamale City emerged.

It was followed by a decision of the FA Executive Committee to ban them indefinitely from home.

That, without doubt, would destabilize their preparation, especially when the Nana Agyemang Badu Park has proven to be the fortress on which a chunk of their points have come from.

But a week after the decision, Aduana Stars should be mentally and psychologically ready for the new environment as Accra Lions, Hearts of Oak, Bechem United and Asante Kotoko breathe heavily on their necks.

Comparatively, Aduana Stars are the superior of the two and have a very good record over the Wonder Club in matches played in Accra or Dormaa.

That notwithstanding, Olympics has vowed to cause a major upset in today’s game, believing that Razak’s inspiring show against Berekum Chelsea will be replicated.

Fact is, Olympics’ current form makes it difficult for close followers of the game to accept the vow to upset Aduana Stars but their wondrous nature could take them closer to that ambition.

Tamale City will be on a similar tangent when they welcome high-flying Bechem United today at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.

The host are also caught up in the relegation web and would need to utlise the home advantage.

Luckily, Bechem has not been so impressive this season on away soil but they still represent a huge force that could spoil their party to sink them further.

The action continues tomorrow where Accra Hearts of Oak welcome Nsoatreman to the Accra Sports Stadium in a must-win encounter.

Hearts are among the contestants for the championship and would need to amass the points from this game to stay with the leading group.

Nsoatreman are also not so far from danger and would need to play above themselves to earn a point from this game.

This may sound absurd but considering the points the Phobians have dropped in Accra, Nsoatreman can cause a split with the right push.

King Faisal appears to have established a new rhythm of late, recording some impressive results to boost their fight for survival.

The last of such outcomes was the surprise defeat of Aduana Stars on penalty shoot-outs in the FA Cup after a pulsating 2-2 draw in regulation time.

They are tipped to earn at least a point despite Dreams FC’s good form as they clash at the Abramkesse Park.

Medeama SC and Karela FC would also clash in a match of equals at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa while Samartex lock horns with Accra Lions at Samreboi.

Elsewhere, Legon Cities will oblige Kotoku Royals to the Elwak Stadium while RTU host Gold Stars at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.
