Aduana Stars eliminate Kotoko from FA Cup

Aduana Stars continued their good form this season with a 1-0 victory against Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the MTN FA Cup round of 16 encounter played at Dormaa yesterday.

A 60th minute strike by in-form Sam Adams from the spot gave the ‘Ogya’ boys the quarter final ticket.

The host pushed for an early goal to unsettle the visitors with the likes of Adams and Kelvin Obeng making runs into the box of their opponent.

Few clear goal scoring chances were however created as the resilient Kotoko defence prevented Aduana’s attackers from causing havoc.

Kotoko had a chance in the 37th minute after new boy Stephen Mukwala made an impressive run into the goal area of Aduana but was later crowded and surrendered possession.

The second half saw a determined Aduana Stars as they exchanged passes exquisitely and steadily moved towards the goal area of their opponent to find the back of the net.

Under the weight of that pressure, Kotoko conceded a penalty in the 59th minute which was expertly converted by Adams to give his side the lead.

Kotoko became the latest casualties among the ‘big boys’ to have exited the tournament after the likes of Hearts of Oak, Great.
