The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Yison Tech Hub, a non-governmental organisation in Information Technology, Mr Issahaque Serikpera Naa has called on local businesses to adopt social media platforms to enhance their brand and attract more customers.

He said social media strengthened decision making hence the need for businesses to embrace the use of the digital space to be able to expand their products.

The CEO was speaking at an event dubbed “the Wa digital job fair 2022”which was organised by the NGO in partnership with Noni hub and Ghana Tech Lab on the theme “digitalising commerce for sustainable business development and job creation in the Upper West Region.”

Mr Serikpera Naa said the job fair was aimed at creating a consultative platform for young ones to further expose them to the business world for building resilient digitised commerce for the job market in the Upper West Region.

He said his outfit had in the last six months intensively trained some young persons in the region on website and mobile App development skills.

The training, according to him would expose and prepare the trainees and help them to gain the needed skills, knowledge, attitude and ethics to acquire practical experience to further develop their career to become competent and resourceful for sustainable development.

Mr Serikpera Naa explained that for businesses to be successful in today’s digital environment, there was the need for online presence in order to create awareness and attract a larger market.

“The internet has taken over and made shopping accessible to everyone, people are increasingly turning to online purchasing to save time and for affordable advertising and marketing for business, startups that have established a strong online presence are progressively taking over,” he said.

Mr Serikpera Naa said before local businesses could take advantage of the social media platform, they needed to acquire knowledge through training and encouraged them to make good use of such opportunities while practicing on how to market their goods in the digital space.

He therefore urged business owners across the region to embrace the digital economy to be able to open the global community by getting their businesses online to serve the larger community.

He said the role of the private sector such as Yison Tech Hub and Noni Hub was very critical to the development and training of the youth in the digital space and encouraged the youth to always take advantage of NGO to enable them gain knowledge in the digital world.
