The Head of Department of Public Administration, School of Business, University of Ghana, Professor KwameAsamoah, has urged both public and private administrators to embrace integrity towards the building of a robust society.
“Let us be mindful with issues of integrity in order to build a robust society for us and the generation yet to come,” he said.
Prof. Asamoah gave the advice at the fourth annual Admiration Conference ofthe Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants-Ghana (CIAMC), held on the theme “Admin professionals in the success of Ghana’s public management reform.”
The meeting was to create a platform to unite and strengthen professional to improve upon their professional standards, to impact on their organisational performance and national development.
Prof. Asamoah said it was necessary for administrative professionals to carry out their duties excellently, adding “you also need technical expertise to achieve your goals while seeking expert advice.
He urged administrators to “cut down waste and use resources effectively while eschewing corruption.”
The Head of Civil Service, Nana KwasiAgyekum-Dwamena, urged administrators to imbibe truth and discharge their duties without fear or favour.
He explained that “the relationship between administrators and politicians is like marriage of convenience for which the latter need to be a little more resilient, agree and disagree on issues focused on national interest.”
Nana Agyekum-Dwamena appealed to administrators to set targets in ensuring accountability.
The Chairman, Board of Trustees of CIAMC-Ghana, Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI, said the work of administrators have changed over the period of time with the introduction of technology into administrative practices.
He asked administrators to avail themselves to technology while acquiring the necessary skills to achieve the best results in their fields of work.
Ehunabobrim Agyensaim noted that administration had evolved into robust and dynamic venture, and “administrators should employ team work in their various organisations as a medium around which their work revolved.”
Dr Ishmael Evans Yamson, who was chairman for the conference, urged them to be abreast with current trends and should be ready to learn new developments in their profession.
