adb gives to Cantonments Police Mosque

Some management members and staff of the adb Bank last Friday made donation of an undisclosed sum of money for the upkeep of the Cantonments Police Mosque in Accra.

This was after the Muslims amongst them joined in the Friday congregational prayers in the mosque led by Sheikh Aremeyao Shuaib.

A Deputy Managing Director of the bank, Alhassan Yakubu-Tali in presenting the money said it was part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility to assist the management of the mosque in carrying out some its activities.

Apart from being a place of worship, management of the Cantonments Police Mosque undertake counselling sessions, skills training for needy people in society and also prepare food packs (Iftar) for worshipers to break their fast during the month of Ramadan.

The Ghana Police Service Officer in Charge of Islamic Affairs, Superintendent (Supt) of Police Imam Husein Abdur-Rahim Husein expressed appreciation to the adb for the kind gesture, saying that both the bank and the mosque share in the same goal of impacting the lives of people in society.

The Cantonments Police Mosque was built over 20 years ago with support from ‘Friends of the Mosque’ and attracts large worshipers in the metropolis including ministers of state, members of Parliament and the diplomatic corps.

The ultra-modern edifice has a multi-purpose hall, prayer hall, offices and library. It serves also as a symbol of religious coexistence and tolerance attracting non-Muslims who occasionally visit there to acquaint with Islam.
