President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Samuel Abu Jinapor as a caretaker Minister of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
He replaces the Minister of Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, who was appointed the caretaker of the Ministry earlier this week , following the resignation of the former Minister Mr Alan Kyeremanten.
The newly appointed caretaker Minister is expected to assume responsibility with effect from next week Monday pending the appointment of a substantive replacement for the outgoing Minister, Mr Alan Kyeremanten.
The announcement of his appointment was contained in a press statement issued and signed by the Director of Communications at the Office of the President, Mr Eugene Arhin in Accra yesterday.
“The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has tasked the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Samuel Abu Jinapor, MP, to assume responsibility for the Ministry of Trade and Industry, with effect from Monday, January 16, 2023, pending the appointment of a substantive replacement for outgoing Minister, Mr Alan Kyeremanten”, the statement read.
The resignation of Mr Kyeremanten was confirmed in statement from the presidency last Friday indicating that he had informed Akufo-Addo personally and tendered his resignation letter to him.
However, it had been an open secret that Mr Kyeremanten, a three-time presidential candidate aspirant of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) still nurse a flagbearer ambition of the 2024c elections.
Following his resignation, Mr Kyeremanten in television address on Tuesday night, outlined what he termed as a “great transformational plan” which he professed solutions on why should be president and how he would go about developmental activities.
Moreover, the initial appointment of the Ofori-Atta as the caretaker Minister for the Ministry of Trade and Industry following the resignation by Mr Kyeremanten did not go down well with the general public who expressed their displeasure on various social media platforms.
