Abramovich eyes Valencia purchase

Roman Abramovich is eying a bid for Spanish side Valencia once the sale of Chelsea has gone through, it has been claimed.

The billionaire is set to sell the Stamford Bridge outfit after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Abramovich has had sanctions imposed upon him by the UK Government, leaving the club unable to make any financial transactions.

And he is said to be hoping to buy another club once the sale has been complete. It comes as American billionaire Ken Griffin has promised to help build “the most competitive team” if the Ricketts family consortium is successful in purchasing the club.

The club is also set to launch a bid to poach the “next Bukayo Saka” from Arsenal – despite their transfer ban.

Chelsea are eying a move for Arsenal’s Khayon Edwards – who has been dubbed the “next Bukayo Saka” by coaches at the Emirates club.

The sanctions imposed on owner Roman Abramovich prevent the club from purchasing players, although the club is reported to have made contact with Edwards’ representatives about a move. It means the club could already be planning for life under a new owner and drawing up transfer targets.
