A gory accident which occurred on Friday afternoon on the Techiman-Kintampo highway has resulted in the death of eight people.
Reports gathered by the Ghanaian Times indicate that a Mercedes Benz cargo truck with registration number AS 9554-G loaded with furniture and canopies heading towards Kintampo crushed into another car – a Kia Sephia taxi with registration number BA 1356-P.
The collision resulted in the death of five occupants in the taxi cab while three people in the benz bus died.
The Techiman Municipal Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Andrew Kofi Okoneye confirmed the incident to the Ghanaian Times.
He explained that while six occupants of both vehicles got trapped in the wreckage and died instantly, two others who were rescued and rushed to the Techiman Holy Family Hospital died on arrival.
The MTTD commander said all the eight bodies have been deposited at the same facility pending autopsy.
Earlier on the same day, the policeman with the MTTD command was also killed in an accident at Nante Zongo near Tuobodom on the same Techiman-Kintampo highway.
