The fifth edition of the event, under the theme ‘My Team Makes Me’ is aimed at nurturing young talents at the school level to feed the national teams.

After the zonal event, 16 schools representing each region of the country would advance to the finals scheduled for the Paa Joe Stadium at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Zone one would have schools from the five regions of the North including, Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Savannah and the North East regions while Zone two would include, Bono East, Ahafo, Ashanti and Bono.

Zone three would comprise, Central, Western North and Western while zone four would have schools from Accra, Volta, Eastern and Oti.

Speaking at the launch, Managing Director at Nestle Ghana, Philomena Tan, said Nestle was committed to the development and nurturing of talents to become national assets.

She said the tournament would go a long way to discover talents to replace the likes of Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari and Mubarak Wakaso Mubarak, who were all discovered from the competition.

She said Nestle would continue to collaborate with the Ghana Education Service (GES) to ensure that football does not replace education but help in the total growth of children.

The Director General of the GES, Prof. Kwasi Opoku Amankwa, added that it was refreshing to note that there was always a partner willing to nurture talents who would take over from the likes of Stephen Appiah, the tournament Icon.

Tournament Icon, Stephen Appiah, urged participants to be disciplined and work hard to make the tournament successful.
