6 apprehended in Tamale for defying Presidential directive

Tamale Metropolitan Assembly in the Northern Region has apprehended six persons for defiance of  President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s directive on social gathering in the wake of coronavirus (COVID-19).

The arrest of the six was contained in a press statement signed and issued to the media by the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Iddrisu Musah.

He stated that the six persons would be made to face the full rigours of the law.

According to Mr Musah, four of them were arrested from Changli, a suburb of Tamale, for organising a funeral ceremony in defiance of the presidential directive.

Mr Musah revealed that the other two persons were apprehended for their refusal to lock their shop during the disinfection exercise in the area.

He reminded the public to fully comply with the presidential directive or risk being arrested by the police.

Mr Musah also appealed to the media, especially radio stations, to assist educate the public on measures to help halt the spread of COVID-19 in the metropolis.

He advised taxi and trotro drivers to desist from crowding passengers in their vehicles.
