The results of 57 health professionals of Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) whose samples were taken to Kumasi for COVID-19 have tested negative.
The 57 included doctors, nurses and laboratory technicians who were said to have come into contact with the ten foreigners who tested positive for COVID-19.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of TTH, Mr Mohammed Misbaw disclosed to the Ghanaian Times in an interview yesterday.
“All the doctors, nurses and laboratory technicians have tested negative of COVID 19,” he stated.
Mr Misbaw however indicated that the same professionals would be tested in two weeks time.
He explained that the second testing would be conducted to confirm their status.
According to him the results of the health professionals had boost their morales to continue to perform their duties effectively and efficiently.
Mr Misbaw mentioned that the health professionals who tested negative were still under some self-quarantine in order to complete the full two weeks mandatory quarantine.
The PRO indicated the readiness of the authorities of the TTH to protect all health professionals in the hospital.
He however expressed worry about the inadequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) in the hospital.
Mr Misbaw, therefore, appealed to the Ministry of Health and for that matter the government to supply the hospital with PPEs as soon as possible.
“We need the PPEs for all personnel in the hospital in order to motivate them to give up their best in the heat of COVID-19.”
In a related development residents in the Tamale metropolis expressed happiness at the arrest of a COVID-19 escapee.
A 21-year old woman infected with coronavirus managed to escape from the quarantined facility in Tamale.
Many in the area particularly people in the metropolis were apprehensive about her escape.
Several people in the metropolis rejoiced over the news of her arrest in Accra, although that has not been confirmed yet.
