5 Konongo Odumasi SHS students remanded …over alleged murder of colleague

Five students of the Konongo Odumasi Senior High School, who are being held over the alleged murder of their colleague, have been remanded into a juvenile detention center.

The Konongo-Odumasi District Court, presided over by Mrs Joyce Bamfo, did not accept their plea, and remanded them until November 15, 2021.

The suspects are facing murder-related charges, and the hearing was held in camera because they are juveniles.

The deceased, identified as Larhan Sam-Una, 15, was said to have been stabbed to death by his form two friend with a small kitchen knife on Friday at about 9:30pm in a dormitory at the school.

One of the suspects, according to security personnel, escaped death by inch with the timely arrival of the police as some of the students attempted to deal with him.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Adu Agyemang Duah,Konongo Municipal Police Commander, who confirmed the story to the Ghanaian Times said the incident occurred after the students had closed from prep at about 8:30pm.

He claimed the five students conspired to go to House Three to bully the first year students.

DSP Agyemang said that infuriated suspect, Osei Frimpong, who pulled a kitchen knife from his pocket and stabbed Sam-Una, in the lower left abdomen.

He said Sam-Una bled profusely and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Konongo Goverment Hospital, and the body had been deposited at the Yawkwei mortuary.

The police said the kitchen knife had been retrieved from Osei Frimpong, who together with his colleagues are now in remand.

Mr David Kwabena Asare, Assistant Head Master, also confirmed the incident, but said police were investigating the case.
