The Member of Parliament (MP) for Yendi Constituency in the Northern Region, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, at the weekend inaugurated mechanised boreholes in five communities at the cost GH₵ 136,000
The beneficiary communities are Bali, Nkwanta, Kuni, Tusani and Ngani.
The MP, within this year, provided more than 60 boreholes to beneficiary communities in the constituency, as part of his intervention to alleviate the plight of the community in accessing potable water
The construction of the projects was an initiative of the MP with funding support from his own resources.
Alhaji Mahama, speaking at Ngani, one of the beneficiary communities, said the construction of the water system in various communities in the constituency formed part of his comprehensive water extension programme aimed at extending potable water to major communities of the constituency.
“I am committed to actualising my vision of touching every nook and cranny of the constituency in terms of education, water, health and other developmental projects,” he stated.
The MP advised the beneficiary communities to maintain the water systems to enable the continuous supply of water in their respective communities.
He said the construction of the water system in the communities across the constituency was to support them solve the perennial water challenges in the area.
“I want to achieve my target of the promise I made to my constituency during the 2020 elections, hence the massive development in the constituency
The people of my constituency are always in my heart and I will continue to give them the development they desire,” he stated.
Alhaji Mahama said he would continue to give them the development that they required of him as their MP.
He, therefore, called on them to exercise patience as he was working tirelessly to continue with his developmental projects in the area.
The Gazia (women leader) of Ngani, Nma Ayishetu Sanwara, thanked the MP for the good things he has been doing for the people in the area.
She said the MP’s provision of potable water for the area was timely, as they used to travel miles to fetch water, adding, “this time we have our own water here and we will not trek long distances again to queue for water.”
She added that the lack of potable drinking water greatly affected economic activities in the various communities, and appealed to the MP to provide more of such facilities since they still need more of the water system in the area.
