4 suspected armed robbers arrested at Aboagyekrom

The police have arrested four men at Aboagyekrom near Jacobu in the Amansie Central District of Ashanti region, for attempted robbery.

Emmanuel Mensah, also known as (alias), Kesse, 29, Prince Arhin alias, Afful, 28, Kwaku Sarpong, 27, Prince Agyei 24, had in their possession army uniforms, one pump action gun, 17 live cartridges, a pistol, a toy pistol, handcuffs and cutter, when they were arrested on June 23, 2019, at about 4pm.

The District Police Commander for Jacobu, Superintendent Abdullai Iddrissu, who confirmed the story to the Ghanaian Times, said an accomplice, whose name was only given as Ike, was on the run, and the police were looking for him.

The Police Commander said his outfit received reports of alleged robbery at the various mining sites in the area, and the police during patrol on Sunday, June 23, encountered the suspects using a Daewoo Matrix taxi with registration number BA 2855-17.

He said when the police interrogated the suspects, and searched their car, they found army uniforms, pump action gun, 17 live cartridges, a pistol, a toy pistol, handcuffs and cutter, concealed in the inner apartment door of the taxi.

Supt Iddrissu said the suspects admitted that they were on their way to a mining site to carry out robbery.

He appealed to the public to assist the police fight against crime and ensure law and order.
