4 domestic workers arrested over Prof Benneh’s murder

At least four persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of the law lecturer, Professor Emmanuel Yaw Benneh at his residence at Adjirigano, East Legon, in Accra.

The suspects are Christian Pobee, 32, a cleaner; Isaac Botchwey, 41, house boy; James Nana Womba, 26, cleaner and Adams Mensah Masur, 52, gardener.

The suspects, who were arrested yesterday for interrogation, are all domestic workers of the deceased.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge disclosed this to the Ghanaian Times in Accra.

She said the Regional Police Command has taken over the case.

DSP Tenge said the deceased was found lying dead in a pool of blood with some cuts on the body.

The deceased body has since been sent to the Police Hospital mortuary.

The Ghanaian Times gathered that the late law lecturer was found with his hands and legs tied in his room.

She said on September 12, 2020, at about 7:30am, East Legon police station police received a report that the professor was found lying in a pool of blood in his residence.

DSP Tenge said the police proceeded to the scene together with the crime scene investigations team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID and found the deceased lying dead with cuts on some parts of the body, and the hands and legs tied.

The PRO appealed to the public with reliable information to notify the police to arrest of the culprits.
