The Amasaman Circuit Court on Tuesday remanded three suspects into police custody for impersonation and defrauding by false pretence.
Prince Adams Senehia, 20, Olongo Philips, 19, and a 17-year-old teenager (name withheld), all from Akim Oda, in the Eastern Region, who are into game betting, would reappear in court on May 23.
The court presided by Justice Marful-Sau heard that the suspects used the name of the Executive Director of the Forest Services Division (FSD) of the Forestry Commission (FC), to defraud unsuspecting people seeking employment at the FC.
Briefing journalists, Mrs Joyce Ofori Kwarfo, Manager, Public Affairs and Media Relations of FC, said about two years ago, some youth besieged the head office of the Commission with their certificates and other documents for interview for employment.
She said the youth told officials of the Commission that Mr Opong Sasu, the Executive Director of the Forestry Services Division (FSD) of the Commission, asked them to come for interview.
Mrs Kwarfo said the Commission reported the case to the Achimota Police and when investigation into the case was ongoing, people continued to visit the FC office with the hope of attending interview.
She said the FC advertised in the media to caution the public to be wary of fraudsters, and that the Commission was not employing people.
Mrs Kwarfo said the accused paid monies into mobile Money Account of the accused, to facilitate the employment process.
She said that the police arrested the accused in Akim Oda in the Eastern Region and taken to Accra.
Mrs Kwarfo asked the public to be wary of people who demand money with the promise of securing employment to victims at the FC.
