2019 Edufair ends

The 2019 Education College Fair (Edufair) organised by the United States Embassy in Ghana has ended in Accra.

The day’s event gathered 48 colleges and universities in the USA with more than 20 selected senior high schools participating from Ghana.

The schools included Drew University, Boise State University, Calvin College, Carnegie Mellon University Africa, Aburi Girls Senior High School, Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (LEGON-PRESEC), Accra Senior High School, among other senior high schools from the Greater Accra and the Eastern regions.

The fair sought to allow participants to have a better understanding of the diverse and unique educational opportunities available in the United States, representatives from the visiting universities shared exclusive details on their institutions’ undergraduate and graduate programmes and also featured workshops on student visas, financial aid and student athlete opportunities.

Miss Liz Ategou, Cultural Attache at the US Embassy in Accra, in her remarks, said the fair offered a platform where the students would be able to interact with representatives from the universities of their choice and interests.

She said the US mission in the country was working closely with stakeholders in the education sector to further boost education at the primary, secondary and in the high levels of education.

That, she noted, would strengthen the relationship between the two countries and mentioned that 3,200 Ghanaians had so far benefitted from the initiative and urged the students to take advantage of the opportunity.

Commending the US embassy for support in education, David Odjidja, the Headmaster of PRESEC, Legon, indicated that the fair would guide students in their choice of colleges and seven students from the school had benefitted from the Edufair and encouraged institutions to take part in the next fair.
