2 nabbed over kidnapping of girl, 13

Two men, who allegedly lured a 13-year-old girl in Ho, into a vehicle and sped off with her to Abutia-Togbave, in the Volta Region, are helping the police in investigation into the matter.

A source at the Regional Police Command gave the names of the suspects as Anthony Kra, 29, and Lucky Norgbe, 28.

It said each of the drivers was buying water with the alleged victim on board one of the vehicles with a demeanour which aroused the suspicion of a member of the public.

After the two vehicles left towards the Juapong direction, the witness  on a motor-bike chased the two vehicles and caught up with them at Abutia-Togbave.

According to the source, the suspects claimed the girl was their sister but they were unable to mention her name.

Subsequently, Kra who was driving a Golf 3, with registration number, GR 8924-R and Norgbe, who was in control of an Open Astra 8924-R, were arrested and handed over to the police.

The victim, who was later identified as Forgive Tse, said she visited a friend at Ho-Kabakaba.

She said while returning home, the two cars pulled up close to her, and the suspects asked her to sit in one the vehicles for a ride home, at Sokode.

Tse sat in one of the cars, but on reaching Sokode, the vehicle in which she was and the one other failed to stop.

The two vehicles were stopped at Abutia by the witness, and suspects were arrested and were in police custody at the time of filing this report, while the victim had been rescued.

When contacted on phone, the Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Edward Oduro-Kwarteng corroborated the story, but declined further details.
