The Head of Public Relations of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Assistance Chief Fire Officer (ACFO) Timothy Osafo Affum, confirmed the story to the Ghanaian Times, yesterday.

He said the fire, which started around 3:06 am, burnt to death two persons, destroyed wooden structures, used as dwelling places and commercial activities by the victims and personal effects running into hundreds of Ghana cedis.

ACFO Affum said the GNFS dispatched fire tenders from Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, Industrial Area, GNFS headquarters, Makola and Accra Regional headquarters,to extinguish the ravaging fire.

The PRO stated that it took the crews over three hours to extinguish the fire after receiving the distress call at 3:06 am

ACFO Affum said firefighters managed to salvage the Ghamot Assembly Plantcompany buildings and structures at slums at Circle.

He said the fire tenders were sent to Kaneshie for replenishment as the hydrants at the scene were either with low pressure or water not flowing in them, causing delays.
