2 in court for stealing gun, phones, money

Two persons, who allegedly broke into the house of a proprietress and stole gun, phones and money, have appeared before the Circuit Court in Adentan, in Accra.

Mobarik Salifu, a 21-year-old barber, and James Annan,a 23-year-old motor rider (Okada rider), accused of stealing a pump action gun, eight boxes of cartridges and various sums of money, pleaded not guilty.

They been charged with conspiracy, unlawful entry, causing unlawful damage and stealing.

The Court presided over by MrsSedinamAwoBalokah, granted accused GH¢200,000 bail with four sureties, one to be justified.

The court ordered prosecution to file its disclosures, and adjourned trial to September 20, for Case Management Conference.

Prosecuting, Chief Superintendent of Police Patience Mario said that the complainant (name withheld) is a proprietress, residing at Adenta New Legon, in Accra, while the two accused resided at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, in Accra.

The court heard that on June 3, this year, at about 3:00 pm, the complainant, who was at her place of work, received a phone call from a witness that her house had been burgled by thieves.

Sup Mario said the complainant reported the case to the police and during investigation, it came to light that Salifu and Annan broke into the complainant’s house.

Prosecution said suspects ransacked complainants room and made away with a pump action gun, valued at GH¢ 20,000, eight boxes of cartridges, valued GH¢4,500, mobile phone worth GH¢9,000, iPad, costing GH¢2,000 and assorted mobile phones, eight solar panels valued GH¢6,000 and cash in the sum of GH¢1,500 and 2,000 pounds.

Sup Mario said during investigations, the stolen phone was tracked and which led to the arrest of Salifu and Annan. – GNA
