2 escape from Ayomso Police cells

Two accused on remand at Ayomso Police station in the Asunafo North municipality of the Ahafo Region, have absconded from police cells.

Haruna Musah and Abdul Karim, who were standing trial at the Goaso magistrate court for stealing GH¢8,600 belonging to some farmers at Ayomso, broke jail on Tuesday night.

They were said to have drilled a hole in the washroom of the police cells and escaped on the blind side of the policemen on duty.

The Goaso District Police Commander Chief Supt Della Dzansi, who confirmed the story to the Ghanaian Times, said the two accused were charged for stealing and unlawful entry, and remanded by the Goaso magistrate court on June 24, 2019, to reappear on July 8, 2019.

Chief Supt Dzansi said the accused, last month, broke into the room of one Kwasi Amuzu at Abenase near Ayomso, and stole a metal savings box, containing GH¢8,600, belonging to a group of farmers in the area.

He said the accused were arrested at their various hideouts at Bibiani in the Western North and Upper East Regions.
