2 die in gory accident in K’si

Two male adults died on the spot and 11 others were injured when a bus on which they were travelling rammed into a stationary vehicle on the Kumasi-Offinso Highway, yesterday.

The two, who were not immediately identified, were believed to be between the ages of 33 and 40 years.

The injured are on admission at the St Patrick Hospital, at Offinso, while the deceased have been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy and preservation, according to eyewitnesses.

A KIA Granbird bus, which was travelling from Zebilla in the Upper East Region, to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, rammed into a faulty articulated truck, which was parked on the shoulder of the road, at Denase, close to Kodie.

The police at Kodie have begun investigations into the incident and have also launched a manhunt for the driver of the faulty truck, who was said to have fled after the accident.

At the time of filing this report, the two vehicles had been towed to the Kodie Police station, according to a police source.

The remaining passengers, however, managed to continue with the journey to their various destinations.
