19 OMCs owe BOST GH¢69.8m – BOST MD

An amount of GH¢69.8 million is owed by 19 Oil Marketing Companies to Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST),Mr Edwin Provencal, Managing Director of BOST, has stated.

According to him, the amount owed span from 2017 to July 2022.

Mr Provencal stated this when he presented two photocopy machines, two power stabilisers and a two UPS to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in Accra yesterday to support them in their operations.

He said EOCO supported BOST in retrieving five per cent of the amount owed by the OMCs, adding that some of the OMCs with arrears had made arrangements to pay their debt.

He said judgment debt has also been slapped against some of the defaulting OMCs and called on EOCO to assist them retrieve the moneys.

The Managing Director commended EOCO for their contribution in promoting socio-economic development in the country, adding that the photocopy machine would help them discharge their duties effectively.

He assured EOCO of their contribution to them to help them achieve their mandate.

The Executive Director of EOCO, Commissioner of Police (COP) Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, in receiving the machines, said the machines were crucial to help them in discharging their duties.

She said EOCO was mandated to assist state institutions collect monies which have been stolen from government.

COP Danquah stated EOCO would collaborate with institutions such as the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and BOST to collect revenue for government to ensure development in the country.

The Executive Director urged the public to pay tax to help in the development of the country, stating that culprits would be arrested and prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.
