11 suspected robbers arrested in Accra

The police in separate operations has arrested eleven suspected robbers, including two Nigerians, in the Accra metropolis, at the weekend.

The suspects, who are in police custody,are Ernest Atorwododeh, 20; Awudu Bella,31; Micheal Solomon Okorou,23 and Bright Benjamin,26, both Nigerians, Nicky Forson, 18, and Yeboah Philip,19.

The others are Francis Agbasa,22; Wonder Nii Obodai, 18; Richard Mensah,25; Emmanuel Mensah, 23 and Prince Agyei 38

They reportedly armed themselves with machete and other offensive weapons and robbed victims at Achimota, Amasaman and Obeyeyie and its environs of items, including mobile phones.

The Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Iddi Lansah Seidu,who disclosed these at a press conference, in Accra, yesterday said the police acted following reports from the public.

He stated that last Saturday, the police arrested Atorwododeh, Bella, Okoro and Benjamin at James Town.

DCOP Seidu said the suspects during investigations said they robbed victims at Nsakinaof their mobile phones.

He said Philip and Forson were arrested at Kwame Nkrumah Circle while riding a motorcycle with registration number M-21-GS 4142 with a machete hidden on the motorcycle.

“They mentioned and led the police to arrest other accomplices, namely Agbasa, Obodai, Emmanuel Mensah, Richard Mensah and Agyeiat their hideouts,” DCOP Seidu stated.

He said investigations into the case were ongoing, stating that suspects would be put before court for conspiracy to wit robbery.

DCOP Seidu appealed to the public who have fallen victim to robbery to contact the Command to assist in investigations.
