1 injured in scuffle at Kasoa over nomination of MCE

One person was injured following a scuffle at Kasoa, in the Central Region,  between some youth alleged to be supporters of the immediate past Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Awutu Senya East Municipality, Michael Essuman Mensah, and the nominated MCE for the area, Anita Love Obo Amissah.

This occurred at a meeting at CP Abeadze, at Kasoa, by members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the Awutu Senya East constituency, at which both Mr Mensah and Ms Amissah were present.

The acting MCE expressed his appreciation to members of the municipality for their support over the past four years.

The newly nominated MCE also canvassed for support from assembly members to   facilitate her confirmation as MCE for the area.

There were conflicting accounts as to what actually triggered the scuffle.

But information gathered was that, supporters of the nominated MCE hooted at the acting MCE at the meeting.

The supporters of the  acting MCE responded to the action, resulting in a scuffle.

A source at the Kasoa Police Station, who confirmed the incident, said one person who was injured in the brawl, was issued with a police medical form.

He said, the injured was treated and discharged from the Kasoa Polyclinic, but no arrest had been made.
