WORK is progressing steadily on the three-storey Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) main offices building in Ho.
The job which took off together with the projects to refurbish the official residence of the Deputy Volta Regional Minister along the Nursery Road in Ho, and the conference block and the kitchen complex of the Ho Residency in January this year, is scheduled to be completed in 12 months.
The Chief Director of the VRCC, Felix Chaahaah disclosed these to the Ghanaian Times in Ho yesterday as he conducted this reporter round the project sites.
He said that the three projects would cost a total of GH₵3.4 million.
Meanwhile, he announced that the presidential lounge at the residency would also be refurbished under a separate expenditure.
“The refurbishment exercises are part of our 2018 performance contract agreement to create a congenial working environment not only to motivate the staff of the VRCC but also to attract clients,” he explained.
Mr Chaahaah said that the refurbishment included the replacement of the old windows with sliding glasses and a thorough furniture replacement to make the VRCC more functional.
To make the VRCC readily visible and accessible, he said that there were striking sign boards along the roads and other vantage points directing road users and other members of the public to the council premises.
The VRCC, the chief director said, was poised to respond to modern and digital dictates of doing business in the contemporary global environment.
Pursuant to that, “we have adopted a digitised registry and a biometric clocking system as well as CCTV cameras to monitor our staff effectively”, he revealed.
Meanwhile, Mr Francis Azubila, a representative of Hallmark Investment Ghana Limited, the contractors working on the main VRCC office building, gave the assurance that the project would be executed within the scheduled time.
He said that more than 10 per cent of the job had already been carried out.
