Andrews Ofori, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has refuted allegation of non-performance by the Assembly and maintained that the Assembly was performing creditably.
He said his accusers failed to substantiate the allegation which sought to malign his character, tarnish his image, reputation of the Office and called on the Public Relations and Compliance Committee (PRCC) of the Assembly to investigate the allegation.
Mr Ofori at a press conference noted that through hard work, perseverance and judicious use of resources, the Assembly held an enviable position among 25 district and municipal assemblies in Volta and Oti Regions for five consecutive times, unprecedented in the 40-year history of the Assembly.
“Due to pragmatic steps initiated by my administration to augment revenue collection and also block revenue leakages, financial performance of the Assembly in 2018 has seen tremendous improvement, out of projected internally generated revenue of GH¢990,890.00 for the year 2018, an amount of GH¢1,008,427.35, representing 102 per cent was mobilised, which remains the best since 2015 and years preceding.
“As of December 2016, the Assembly was indebted to contractors and suppliers to GH¢3,928,399.03, only GH¢828,692.83 was paid by previous administration, remaining GH¢3,099,706.20, resources available to the Assembly were used to pay for the construction of a three-unit classroom block at Lolobi Kumase, a six-unit classroom block for Methodist and Likpe Bala Basic schools.
“The Assembly paid for the completion of a two-storey Arts and Culture Centre, completed and furnished the Administration block, ICT centre and conference rooms of Likpe Senior High School, construction of a10-seater water closest with biogas for Akpafu and Afadjato Secondary Technical Schools, Hohoe E.P and St Mary’s Senior High Schools, solar powered boreholes for Likpe Alavanyo, Akpafu Sokpo, Fodome Agbesia, Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compound at Likpe Koforidua, three mechanised boreholes for Akpafu Todzi, Alavanyo Dzogbedze and Likpe Avedzeme, at various levels of completion.
“Ghana Education Trust Fund provided dormitories as well as 12 and 18-unit-classroom blocks, others yet to be completed, roads reshaped such as Hohoe to Fodome, resealing of 10-kilometre Hohoe township road, selected roads in the municipality will be constructed under the Sino Hydro Infrastructure Project Fund.
“Assembly constructing rural technology facility at Godenu to train the youth in metal fabrication to produce farm implements and processing equipment,” Mr Ofori touted and rubbished that since 2017 the Assembly had not initiated any development project as alleged. –GNA
