2nd Ghana Hubs Network Annual Gathering 2019 held in Accra

The 2nd Ghana Hubs Network Annual Gathering 2019 that seeks to build relationship among technology companies was held in Accra last Friday.

It was attended by government agencies, entrepreneurs, corporate institutions, investors and development partners.

Speaking at the gathering, Mr David Ofori, Head of Operations at the Accra Digital Centre, said Ghana could produce tech companies to compete with Zuckerberg and Ali Baba, if efforts were made to grow the technology industry.

He noted that Ghana was the pinnacle of technology in the sub-region because of its vast expertise in artificial intelligence, internet of things and other startups.

He underscored the need to harness the benefits in the technology sector and streamline them to help businesses to grow.

Mr Ofori said that the Centre launched the business support clinic last Tuesday to provide technical, legal, accounting and human resource services to businesses.

Besides, he stated that the Centre had introduced innovative solutions such as charging low rental fees to enable startups get enough liquidity to run their businesses.

Mr Gideon Brefoh, the outgoing Board Chairman of the Hubs Network said the meeting provided an opportunity to identify the weaknesses of startups and give them the needed support.

According to him, the network was created to build the capacities of startups to enable them to help others in all regions.

Among other things, Mr Brefoh said the gathering was an opportunity for stakeholders in Ghana’s entrepreneurship ecosystem to network and build relationships to operate effectively.

The Ghana Hubs Network was established to promote works of member hubs and their startup and to monitor and assess its impact.
