Three granted bail for stealing

An Accra Circuit Court has granted bail in the sum of GH¢320,000.00 each to three persons; James Sackey, Larrou Ali and Richard Asiedu Larbi, for stealing with two sureties each.

Michael Kojo Edmund and Edem Yevakpor were also granted bail in the same sum with two sureties each for dishonestly receiving stolen goods.

The five accused persons pleaded not guilty to all the charges and are to make their next appearance on August 14, 2019.

The court presided over by Mrs Ruby Naa Aryeetey issued a bench warrant for the arrest of two other accused persons Leticia Ashong and Solomon Ayikwei.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Gulliver Kwabena Tenkorang said one of the accused persons, Osah,  is still at large.

Chief Inspector Tenkorang said, the complainant in the case is the financial controller of Kingdom Books and Stationery Limited located at Osu in Accra.

He said the accused, James, 30, Larrou, 30, Leticia, 28 and Richard, 43 were employees of the company, Kingdom Books and Stationery while the others being Solomon aged 52, Micheal, 55, Edem, 22 and Osah are businessmen living in Accra.

Chief inspector Tenkorang said, the accused staff of the company when at post were in charge of the sale of A4 papers to customers as part of their duties.

He said the four agreed and created accounts in the company’s sales system for companies owned by Solomon, Micheal, Edem and Osah.

He said the accused former employees then started selling A4 papers transported by Osah from the company at reduced prices without paying the amount into the company’s account and then share the proceeds among themselves.

He said in June, this year, an audit was carried out in the company’s sales system and it was discovered that quantity of A4 papers valued GH¢325,050.00 have been sold by the four accused employees.

Chief Inspector Tenkorang said the complainant  reported the case to the Osu Police Station leading to their arrest.

He said during investigations, the accused persons admitted the offence and mentioned Solomon, Michael and Edem as receivers of the goods.

Chief inspector Tenkorang said, GH¢25,000.00 has so far been retrieved from the accused persons.GNA
