President nominates 3 judges for Supreme Court

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated three Court of Appeal Judges for promotion to the Supreme Court, subject to Parliamentary vetting and approval.

The nominees are Justice Mariana Owusu, Justice Lovelace Johnson and Justice Gertrude Tokornoo.

Their appointment followed the retirement of two Supreme Court Judges, Justice Vida Akoto-Bamfo and Justice Sophia Adinyira and the impending retirement of the Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo in December this year.

The nomination was announced by the Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, on the floor of the House yesterday after receiving a communication to that effect from the Presidency.
