Govt gives towards celebration of this year’s Adegbon festival

THE Shai Osudoku District Assembly on behalf of government yesterday presented assorted items to the Osudoku Traditional Council towards the celebration of this year’s Adegbon festival which comes off on Saturday September, 28.

The items included a bull, five bags of rice, 15 crates of assorted drinks, 25 cartons of mineral water, a carton of schnapps and an undisclosed amount of money.

The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Daniel Akuffo, presenting the items said the government highly recognised the role of traditional authorities who organise these festivals, which bring them together to initiate development projects.

“You have always celebrated these festivals that binds you together, hence the government’s window’s mite to support the festival, adding that “in unity lies strength; the country cannot develop without peaceful coexistence”, and urged the people to rally behind the president for the total development of the area.

He also urged them to celebrate the festival in moderation, especially the motor riders, in order to have peaceful and accident-free occasion.

Mr Akuffo appealed to the chiefs to use the occasion to iron out their differences for peace to prevail in the area.

The paramount chief of the area Nene Adegbon Momowuya Kwesi Animle VI, commended the assembly and the government for the gesture, and expressed his people’s readiness to support the government to implement its programmes, especially the Planting for Food and Jobs and the One District One Factory.

The Mankralo of the Osudoku Traditional Area, who received the items on behalf of the paramount chief, expressed gratitude to the government for the recognition given the area and prayed that God grant him long life.
