Fire Service commences investigations into 12 fuel tanker fire

The Ghana National Fire Service ((GNFS) has commenced investigations into the Wednesday’s fire outbreak that destroyed 12 fuel tankers and offices at Kpone farm land area.

The Head of Public Relations of the GNFS, Divisional Officer Grade II, Ellis Okoe Robinson told the Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday stating that it was the mandate of the Service to establish the cause of the fire to help prevent any occurrence.

 He said the outcome of the scientific investigations would establish the cause and cost of damages.

The PRO said the service would contact owners of the tankers and eyewitnesses to help in the investigations.

DO II Robinson appealed to the public to collaborate with the investigators to unravel the cause of the fire.

The Ghanaian Times reported in its Friday, October 4 issue that a huge fire on Wednesday night destroyed 12 fuel tankers and offices owned by Goodness Energy at a location in Kpone farm area.

This resulting conflagration which lit up and spewed thick smoke into the night sky for hours attracted scores of people to the scene.

It took a team of 36 fire officers and men and eight fire tenders to douse the fire in 12 hours.

One person was reported to have been injured and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
